To prevent data loss, it is advised to frequently back up your data onto another hard drive or use a secure online service to host your important files.
Symptoms of hard drive failure can include clicking or grinding noises from the hard drive, the computer acting sluggish, appearing to freeze then catch up again, or the blinking question-mark folder on startup.
